Since 1985, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Frank Johnson Jr. has provided expert sports medicine care to athletes from elite professionals to high school students in the Indianapolis and Central Indiana area. His practice specializes in sports medicine, knee injuries, shoulder injuries, and joint replacement.
Known as a knee and shoulder specialist, Dr. Frank Johnson attracts patients from all over the state of Indiana. With his combined extensive training in sports medicine and joint replacements, he offers expertise and a perspective utilizing these two specialties that is difficult to find in another orthopedic surgeon.
Dr. Johnson has worked on countless athletes from Purdue University, Indiana University, and Notre Dame while also doing consultation work for the Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts. He is nationally recognized as a sports medicine expert.
Unlike many orthopedic surgeons, the majority of the procedures performed by Dr. Johnson are minimally invasive, utilizing pain blocks for comfortable post-op recovery. He does arthroscopy of the elbow, shoulder, and knee for a multitude of problems. He has pioneered multi-modal pain intervention that allows outpatient same-day total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, and shoulder replacement.
